Life's Been Waiting

My lips tingle as I wonder what’s out there today
As I will myself to pop the metal blinds a hair
Light pours in as the dust silver-swirls in the room
As I squint and force my face to the open air

Life’s been waiting
Patiently for years
But Luna won’t wait for me forever 

I always feel like I’m watching a horror film
When I see the endless space beyond my walls
And I get faint as my heart and mind run wild
So, I take another off-brand Xanax rail

And I can’t imagine life without her

And I’ve reached out for help
And I’m taking all my pills
I’m trying
But I don't seem to be getting any better

So, I pray for fires and floods and other acts of God
To force me from the confines of my mind
Into the world where Luna lives and breathes
Before she decides she’s just wasting time
